Planning Lena and Jurg’s wedding was nothing short of magical, and the stunning Zeitz MOCAA Ocular Lounge provided the perfect backdrop for their special day. As their wedding coordinator, I had the pleasure of bringing their vision to life, transforming this iconic space into a celebration filled with organic beauty, contemporary design, and meaningful moments.

The Venue: Zeitz MOCAA Ocular Lounge

Nestled in the heart of Cape Town, Zeitz MOCAA is renowned for its architectural brilliance and breathtaking views of the city. The Ocular Lounge, with its dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and modern industrial charm, offered a unique canvas to create an unforgettable wedding setting. Lena and Jurg were drawn to the venue’s ability to blend art, history, and style.

The Theme: Organic, Contemporary, and Textured

Lena and Jurg envisioned a wedding that felt effortlessly modern yet connected to natural elements. To achieve this, we curated a theme that harmonised organic textures with contemporary design elements. The decor featured an earthy palette of greens, terracotta hues, and neutral tones, paired with touches of gold to add a hint of luxury. The result was a beautifully balanced aesthetic that felt both refined and inviting.

The Tablescape: Mossy Modern Elegance

At the heart of the decor was the stunning tablescape. Long banquet tables were draped in white linens, adorned with mossy runners and lush floral arrangements that brought the outdoors in. A mix of fresh greenery, delicate blooms, and sculptural terracotta accents created a dynamic yet cohesive look.

Each place setting featured minimalist stoneware plates, gold flatware, and soft beige napkins tied in an understated, yet striking knot. Warm candlelight from modern taper candles in earthy tones added an intimate glow, enhancing the ambiance as the evening progressed.

The Floral Design: A Natural Masterpiece

Floral decor played a pivotal role in bringing the theme to life. Our floral partners at a|FLORAL and freelance designer Zaan Kultuur worked together to craft breathtaking arrangements that felt organic yet artful. Suspended installations of greenery and delicate flowers framed the space beautifully, creating a sense of intimacy while celebrating the venue’s soaring ceilings. Each arrangement was thoughtfully designed to complement the architectural lines of the Ocular Lounge.
